Paper quilling is an ancient art, dating back to the 1500s.Ā The intricate art was frequently created by nuns and monks to provide decorative ornaments for the monasteries.Ā
The art enjoyed a resurgence in the late 1800s when young, well-to-doĀ ladies in their teens and twenties would gather to create framed art.Ā Their designs were updated versions of the religious pieces of centuries before, but the technical process remained quite similar.Ā
Today, paper quilling art is still being created in a wide range of styles.Ā Mine tends to be more traditional and methodical than some of my fellow artists.Ā I admire some of the free-flowing, colorful, whimsical styles of others.
Below you'll see just a small sampling of some of my creations.Ā There are many more photos of my work at Facebook.com/kathysquills.Ā I am available to do custom pieces such as embellished framed wedding announcements, baby announcements, and gifts of all kinds as well as the perfect piece for your home and decor.Ā No piece is too large or too small.Ā Challenge me!Ā You only pay me if you absolutely love the final product.
